I Am Deeply Honored

My colleagues and family were keeping a secret from me. They were good at their task because I was totally oblivious to what was going on.

Finally, my colleague, Susan Fountain, Executive Director of the Dallas County Republican Party had to "fess up." Turns out, she was in a panic. She had invited my wife Nancy and to be the Party's guest that the DCRP table at the Regan Dinner but I hadn't be very committal to attending. Despite wanting to meet former Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo this year's featured speaker, my back has been giving me problems and I wasn't sure I could take the pain. I hadn't said no but I hadn't said yes either.

Lees than a week before the dinner, Susan called to inform me that the DCRP was going to honor me as the "Volunteer of the Year."
