For almost all of my life have had had a love of science and pursued a career in science and research. However, I also am blessed to have a creative side.
My grandmother gave me a Nikon for high school graduation and I immediately discovered that I was a pretty good photographer, a natural. Within two years I became a working photojournalist, completed my internship at the old Ft. Worth Press and become a staff photographer for the storied Baylor Photographic Center. The next year, I became the first-ever student Director of the Baylor Photographic Center. After school, I became a working professional photographer and Publisher of Dallas Photo Magazine.
While I maintain my interest in still photography, I also became a cinematographer as well as Director/Producer.
In my late-20s, I returned to my career in applied science and research and development in information science, computer graphics and networking. My creative talents and the resulting professional experience has paid a handsome dividend in technology.
In the age of the Internet, technology and media fused, the ability to blend the two set of skills -- technical and creative -- became invaluable and synergistic. Each set of skills causes a deeper understanding of the other. Technology provides the platform but content is king. Being adept at both is invaluable.
